Photography Snob

It's true I am a photography snob. Tonight I received a link to this photographer's website. Although I have heard of this artist and was vaguely familiar with her work, I was stunned when I viewed the website. Her work is inspirational. I look forward to seeing how Ms. Thompson captures our work.

Lift The Eye

Is the carpet or flooring treatment at your venue less than desirable? The easiest and most cost affective way to deal with this detail is to lift the eye. Filling the room with high centerpieces brings the eye up and away from the floor and onto your decor.

(Estimated Cost: Top Left- $175 to $235 Top Right - $125 - $175 Bottom Left - $125 - $195 Bottom Right $275)

Morning Coffee

Yesterday the conversation around the design table turned to Coffee. In honor of our little design chat I have posted this fun image of coffee bean filled centerpieces. I do not have an accurate price estimate for this piece, but, I would anticipate it being hefty on the wallet when the cost of the coffee beans is factored in. If any of our blog readers have more information about coffee filled centerpieces I would love to hear your feedback.

Winter Wedding Dream

Last month an awesome couple came to meet with me to discuss their wedding decor. The design they had in mind was a winter wedding dream for me. Although the bride had been planning a fall affair I was longing to create a similar design for a winter bride.

I located this image on Grace Ormond and I am now looking for my winter bride to bring these amazing pieces to life.
(est cost: $450 - $750)

A Flower Story

I LOVE creating decor for weddings so to hear me say I had a lot of fun working on Lindsey & CJ's wedding would not be a surprise. So, instead I would like to share the story of how their flowers came to be masterpieces on the wedding day...

As promised... Here is the story.

In late July I received a call from one of my favorite people on the face of the earth. She had decided to relocate to the east Coast and wanted to get into the wedding industry. Of course I was more than eager to help her succeed. So, we made a plan for her, her momma and little sister to take a trip to Maryland for some hands on training. With permission from our bride and groom (Lyndsey & CJ) I put them to work on what started out as a basic wedding and turned out to be one of the coolest weddings of the season.

Jessica learns the importance of keeping petals hydrated

Yay! Boutonnieres and corsages are complete.

Rebbecca was a natural designer and created some of our best centerpieces.

Marissa Poses with samples of the Golda Roses used in the centerpieces. These are by far the coolest roses I have ever seen.

The truck is loaded and ready to head to Billingsley Manor in Upper Marlboro, MD.

(left to right: Marissa, Rebecca, Jessica)

The ladies "Team Alban" worked together flawlessly assuring that each detail was nothing short of perfect. Great team work girls!

Now it is time to take a look at what these ladies created. The quality of their work and their passion for perfection is inspiring!

Aisle Art for Lindsey & CJ

On Saturday While setting up for Lindsey & CJ's wedding at Billingsley Manor I felt the aisle needed something, so, with permission from Lindsey & CJ's wedding coordinator we created this fun aisle treatment. This is a very lucky couple as I have never given a gift this large. However, it was well worth the trouble and the cost of a few dozen roses. This was the finishing touch to an already stunning event.
Thank you to Lindsey & CJ for letting me have a little fun and trusting me to make creative decision.

How Much Does It Cost

On our last posting SPROUT commented on the price listing we gave for the Manzanita display and asked that we do this going forward. I think this is a great idea and have decided to add this to our posts.
Pricing can be a challenge in the event industry as there are numerous variables including season, venue, complexity, designer, location and even weather. So, keep in mind pricing will be estimates only and you may find them to be priced higher or even lower than our estimates.

I'd like to start with the basics. This is a boutonniere INTRIGUE created using White Dendrobium Orchids accented with subtle bear grass touch and natural wrapped stems. This style has become very popular and is currently my favorite boutonniere style.
(est cost: $10 - $18)

Manzanita at it's best

With the winter wedding season just around the corner I have been seeing lots of request for branches. In particular brides have shown an interest in Manzantia Branches. The image above was sent to me by Laura as inspiration for her January reception. The natural lines of the branches are a great compliment for the soft wintry feel of the Phaleanopsis Orchids adding a subtle hint of life to the wintry piece. The natural bed of washed river rocks add the finishing touch to this escort table (seating card table)

This is not a cheap piece by any means. You should expect to pay anywhere from $350 to $600 for a piece of this caliber depending on your designer. Although this is a pricey decor element it may just add that exciting pop you are looking for at your winter wedding.

Simply Light on the Wallet

This is by far the least expensive centerpiece idea I have stumbled onto. For the bride that is looking for more than budget savvy I thought this was a great concept. The recycled cans are tied with a grass accent and filled with Mini Daisies. This is a great look for a backyard wedding or even a bride looking for a casual atmosphere.

(est cost: $15 - $25)
