Aisle Art for Lindsey & CJ

On Saturday While setting up for Lindsey & CJ's wedding at Billingsley Manor I felt the aisle needed something, so, with permission from Lindsey & CJ's wedding coordinator we created this fun aisle treatment. This is a very lucky couple as I have never given a gift this large. However, it was well worth the trouble and the cost of a few dozen roses. This was the finishing touch to an already stunning event.
Thank you to Lindsey & CJ for letting me have a little fun and trusting me to make creative decision.

How Much Does It Cost

On our last posting SPROUT commented on the price listing we gave for the Manzanita display and asked that we do this going forward. I think this is a great idea and have decided to add this to our posts.
Pricing can be a challenge in the event industry as there are numerous variables including season, venue, complexity, designer, location and even weather. So, keep in mind pricing will be estimates only and you may find them to be priced higher or even lower than our estimates.

I'd like to start with the basics. This is a boutonniere INTRIGUE created using White Dendrobium Orchids accented with subtle bear grass touch and natural wrapped stems. This style has become very popular and is currently my favorite boutonniere style.
(est cost: $10 - $18)

Manzanita at it's best

With the winter wedding season just around the corner I have been seeing lots of request for branches. In particular brides have shown an interest in Manzantia Branches. The image above was sent to me by Laura as inspiration for her January reception. The natural lines of the branches are a great compliment for the soft wintry feel of the Phaleanopsis Orchids adding a subtle hint of life to the wintry piece. The natural bed of washed river rocks add the finishing touch to this escort table (seating card table)

This is not a cheap piece by any means. You should expect to pay anywhere from $350 to $600 for a piece of this caliber depending on your designer. Although this is a pricey decor element it may just add that exciting pop you are looking for at your winter wedding.

Simply Light on the Wallet

This is by far the least expensive centerpiece idea I have stumbled onto. For the bride that is looking for more than budget savvy I thought this was a great concept. The recycled cans are tied with a grass accent and filled with Mini Daisies. This is a great look for a backyard wedding or even a bride looking for a casual atmosphere.

(est cost: $15 - $25)

Awsome Aisle Swag

(est cost: $340 - $650)

All year I have been getting excited about aisle swags and this weekend we created a swag that I had to stop and stare at. The lush orange Imperial Taffeta rested flawlessly on the church floor creating wonderful billows. To my delight the lighting in the church was wonderful and made the fabric glow! Hopefully, Kali & Eric's photographer will share a few more images so that I can share the entire wedding with you.

Thank you to Kali & Eric. I enjoyed getting to know you and being part of your wedding.

The Blonde Photographer

On July 11th Molly and I spent a windy afternoon at CBF (Chesapeake Bay Foundation) putting together a lovely event for Missy & Mark. While setting up I caught a glimpse of a "blonde photographer". However, I did not give it much thought. That is until today when I saw these images on Jamie's (The Blond Photographer) site. Jamie is an ultra cool eye. I can't wait to have her shoot our work again!

Missy & Mark's wedding is just a teaser. Log onto http://www.theblondephotographer.com/ to view more of Jamie's work.

Thank you to Missy & mark for inviting us to design your decor and be part of your day.

Monogrammed

There are lots of ways to add your monogram to your special day. This past weekend Mr & Mrs. McCormick requested an over sized "m" be created out of button mums to compliment their decor. The monogram was accented with touches of orchids and Gerber Daisy set atop the mantle. As a finishing touch the mantle was flanked by cylinder vases with submerged flowers.

The casual lounge furniture set the tone for this casual waterfront reception.

Treating Your Napkin

Napkin treatments are on the rise. By adding a simple rose or even a single orchid bud this trend will give your table a wonderful added touch.

Adding this treatment to your wedding can be very affordable if you are working with a Day-of-Coordinator/Wedding Planner. Select a flower being used in your centerpieces for the most powerful impact and ask your designer (us of course) to process them and provide the single blooms to your Coordinator. Your coordinator will be more than happy to add these flowers to the napkins for a finished look.

If you are looking for a great Wedding Planner / Day-of-Coordinator I recommend Historic Events and Exquisite Gems

Melody in Mexico

This month Melody Browning of Historic Events hired Wendy Hickok to fly to Mexico for a "Glam the Dress" session. Although these images do not have flowers in them I just had to share. Wendy is a great wedding photographer with a wonderful eye.

These images inspire me to do a "Glam the Dress" session.

As most of you know I am a huge photography fan. When it comes to talented artists Don Bryant is among the best in the country. For years his work has been giving me chills. Enjoy this glimpse into Danielle & Matt’s July 4th Beach Club wedding as seen through Don’s lens. I hope to have more of Don’s images from this wedding to share in the future.

Branches and Moss at London Town

Last weekend we created a stylish wedding with natural charm at the Historic London Town and Gardens in Edgewater, Maryland. The wedding of Mari and Josh called upon the natural beauty of this historic site when designing their decor. Enjoy this images from my "handy cam". I hope to have professional images to share in the coming weeks.

Chuppa style alter of Branches, orchids and moss set against the water backdrop

The aisle was lined with towering willow branches also accented with Orchids creating a magnificent path leading the bride to her groom.

Fun kissing ball of natural moss and plum ribbon designed for the flower girl to carry down the aisle
Lush Floating Peonies and candles presented in wooden bowls set atop a bed of moss and polished river rocks.

Molly of INTRIGUE and Anne of Historic Events work together to create a sophisticated chair treatment using an enormous Peony accented with plum ribbon.
"Thank you to Mari & Josh for allowing me to be part of this classy event."
Thank you to all of the vendors who helped make this day come to life.
(Hopefully Aaron will send us pro pics to add to the blog!)
